AKADEMIA - Information technology and new ways of on-line journalism

The Akademia projectwas the seminal project in the genesis of LabCom, in 2000. The mainobjective of Akademia was to explore new types of on-line journalismbased on new information technologies, namely in two fields: 1)Convergence of text, sound and motion pictures (video); 2) Symbiosesbetween journalism and information systems (data bases). This wlas aninterdisciplinary project in the field of communication (journalismand audiovisuals), computing (networks, data bases, streaming) andinformation management.
